Amy - this was beautiful and resonate for me. My husband and I are in marriage counseling for the first time (literally, our first session was just last week)- in an effort to bridge that gap between us. I often don't feel seen/understood and there's a lot to unpack. Perhaps I am not looking at all the ways I am inaccessible. Definitely food for thought! Thanks for sharing this.
I, too, had enormous awakenings in the Bigger Yes course. My answer to the question: what do you not want to be part of your life story when you reach the end of your life? Inhibition. I don't want to restrain my creative thoughts or my feelings. I want to share them and not shrink/hide.
Allison, thank you for your beautiful comment. I am glad what I wrote was food for thought as you and your husband navigate this journey. I wish for light and peace for your heart as you venture into that territory of bravely being seen and understood for exactly who you are. I loved your answer to the question. I also want to throw off the restraints I have lived under my entire life when it comes to my creative expression. Let's keep on sharing ourselves--through our words--with the world.
What a journey of awakening! In slow motion and great eloquence, you took us through your growing desire to align your life with your inner truth and wisdom. Your resilience in the face of making and living difficult decisions is truly inspiring. I just love your writing, and I look forward to listening to your curated songs.
Thank you Louisa, my friend, for witnessing so compassionately this brave step to share my journey. My admiration for what you are doing at your Substack Lilly Pond is the same!
I have lived with you through much of your self-discovery, however, reading everything hear puts it all into perspective. Your journey to understand you and your desires for the life ahead of you is not done. I look forward to journeying with you!
Thank you Julie. It is friends like who make it possible to take these difficult journeys in life. And friendship is a topic for my Thursday newsletter. Stay tuned!
