You've dreamt about walking this famous pilgrimage route across Spain and now you want to make it a reality. In the final part of the series, we share our best confidence-boosting tips and resources.
Wonderful post, I'm saving it to return to! Re food, I love a Spanish tortilla, and glad those worked for you. Re shoes, did each of you have only one pair of shoes for the whole way?
I'm glad you liked the post. Spanish tortilla is amazing. In terms of shoes, I did pack a pair of La Sportiva trail running shoes as well, but felt it took up unnecessary space in my bag and I relied on my Salomon's most of the time, and my cheap plastic flip flops when I needed a break.
Thanks Sarah, as for the shoes, other than the flip flops (a sturdy pair) we didn't have a second pair to save space in our packs, but many hikers recommended a lightweight pair of sneakers you can tie to your backpack to give your feet a break from the hiking shoes. Changing shoes (and even socks) can make all the difference to tired, aching feet.
Definitely put it on your list. It was so special. And when you do, we're happy to provide even more tips. There was so much more we could have added, believe it or not.
Glad you appreciated us sharing our recommendations. And maybe we'll walk the Camino together again one day. Once you've done it, it calls to you again (and for many, again ad again).
Thank you Amy and Marielle for such a comprehensive and detailed article. I will be adding it to my list of resources as I start forming my plans for my own Camino experience 😉

That’s my experience with hiking—changing pairs of shoes is a help!
This is so helpful! I didn't know you could start in Porto ...
So glad you found this helpful. And Porto is such a great city to visit, even if you're not walking the Camino.
It's really such a lovely place to start. It's a beautiful, fun place to visit and to begin your walk from.
Thank you for such a detailed and generous list of tips! The Camino is on my hoped to complete travel list. 🙏

Oh I believe it!♡
